Bike Cleaning
I love bikes but I hate cleaning them. So like any good consumer I went looking for a product that would make the job easier. After the horrendous weather we had in Sydney this week my bike desperately needed a clean.
The product I bought was White Lighting’s Wash & Shine, 20 bucks from my local bike shop. Now I have to point out this was not a fair test for the Wash & Shine because I have not cleaned my bike in about five years.
I removed the wheels from my bike, hung it on a tree in my courtyard and went nuts. Liberally spraying on the product (as the instructions tell you, probably so you use heaps) and using a firm bristled toothbrush to remove the stubborn grease, grime and gunk. I even used the Wash & Shine to degrease the chain (not sure a highly trained bike mechanic would have done that but I was a man possessed).
The product worked extremely well but unfortunately did not leave a shine. Could be because of the extreme neglect my bike has suffered over it’s 10 years. The “salesman” in the bike shop told me the shine will build up with regular use of the product. Not sure cleaning your bike every 5 years counts as “regular”.
